CHARACTER

An introduction to the skills of creating credible characters (60 minutes)

Using tried and tested techniques, honed over my 20+ years teaching career, I will guide you on a journey of discovery into how to build credible characters.

We will work in small groups to develop and build characters who pop from the page and really come to life - with ease.

Through intuitive questioning, I will help you to see how to enhance storytelling skills through sound foundations in characterisation.

SETTING

An introduction to the skills of creating spectacular settings (60 minutes)

Using tried and tested techniques, honed over my 20+ years teaching career, I will guide you on a journey of discovery into how to build sensational settings.

Bringing in sensory writing will be an added benefit to enhancing wellbeing as it is a skill that is excellent for both creating sensational settings and as an aid to tackle anxiety.

STORYLINE

An introduction to the skills of creating strong storylines (60 minutes)

Using tried and tested techniques, honed over my 20+ years teaching career, I will guide you on a journey of discovery into how to build strong storylines.

From the shortest of stories and messages to more extended pieces, I will show you how to create storylines that are both confidently structured and memorable.

STORYTELLING

Build a short story in a day (2 x half day or 1 x full day session)

Over the course of the sessions we will explore the key skills involved in effective storytelling and will build a short story, individually or in teams, in a day.

The skills we will examine are: characterisation, setting, storyline, message, symbolism, genre and imagery.

These workshops can have a predetermined theme appropriate to your business aims or can have flexibility in thematic approach.

MYTHOLOGY

Using mythology in modern storytelling (2 x half day or 1 x full day session)

By examining the key stories from mythology we will establish how they can be brought into a modern setting whilst retaining their essential elements.

We will then explore how to build a fabulous story through the core pillars of character, setting and structure.

Finally, we will build our own stories in small groups using the skills learned in the first two parts of this intellectually stimulating, interesting workshop.

OPTIONS

There are many interesting options to explore if you're interested in a bespoke workshop, including but not limited to . . .

Poetry - haiku, sonnet, free verse, lyrics.

Drama - drama scripts, set design & stage craft.

Spoken word - bring your voice to life!

Monologue - dramatic and otherwise.

I will then build out your workshops exactly as discussed. Each staff member will receive a printed copy of the key ideas of the session so that they have takeaways to build on after the session ends.

I have 20+ years of teaching experience and so you can feel fully reassured that I will create an effective, engaging session that will be delivered timeously and professionally, with a few laughs thrown in.

I’m Suzanne, founder of The Curious Wolf.

I developed a love for Creative, Reflective & Persuasive Writing during my 20 year teaching career where I specialised in teaching this art form to Advanced Higher students.

Leaving this career to develop new businesses led to a journey of self-discovery, positive psychology and mindset and this, combined with the urge to continue teaching and be immersed in the world of writing never left me and so, late in 2023, The Curious Wolf was born.

What drives me, is my passion for seeing the transformation in the people that I work with that an immersive and interactive workshop on Creative Writing or Writing for Wellbeing brings - the increase in confidence, the delight in their eyes when they realise the ability within and the progress that can be made in a short space of time.

In my down time I can often be found walking my two lurchers, Rudi & Pixie, or talking about them, or taking photos of them . . . .

O1. How long is each session?

The individual workshops listed above are 60 minutes in length each. They can be combined in any way of your choosing to create 90 minute sessions, half day workshops and full day workshops. The same session can also be run multiple times on the same day to different groups of staff. I am very flexible and keen to meet your staff enhancement needs.

02. How is the content delivered?

I can deliver the sessions in person or online. I am based in Scotland but I'm always happy to travel and don't add travel costs to my prices for travel within the UK.

03. Can we talk through some ideas?

Absolutely! Book in for a chat and let's work on putting together a session that is a perfect fit for your organisation.

04. Do you deliver the sessions?

Yes, I am The Curious Wolf - I personally deliver all sessions.

05. Do you have a price list?

Just as soon as we have chatted about what you are looking for I will send you a proposal document with a range of prices for you to choose from. My prices are competitive and include optional stationery upgrades.
