Gin & Journalling - a mighty combination!
Journalling has become increasingly popular over the last five years. The effects on wellbeing are irrefutable as it provides a vehicle for processing thoughts and emotions in a safe and contained space.
It can help to externalise anxious thoughts, put them into words and then set them aside rather than have them chattering away in our heads in ever decreasing circles. We've all heard the advice for insomnia - keep a notepad next to your bed to write down the thoughts that are keeping you awake; cultivating a habit of journalling is an extension of this core practice.
Connection is one of the core pillars of The Curious Wolf, it can be divided into two distinct areas: connection with the self and connection with others. We believe both to be essential for strengthening mental health and building the resilience that we all need to cope with the constantly changing world that we are living in.
When you are more deeply connected with your inner self, you will have a greater ability to process thoughts and to reflect rather than react. Understanding why we behave the way that we do, why we think the way that we do and why we respond the way that we do is the first step to becoming more in control of our behaviour, of being able to choose how we respond, and it is liberating, truly.
Bringing journalling into our day is a habit that can have a profound effect. It's one of the simplest habits to start as there are no wrong ways to do it.
But, how do we join this connection with the self with connection with others, I hear you ask? Well, that's where our event - Gin & Journalling comes in!
It is the perfect fusion of mixology and mindfulness. This unique experience combines the delights of gin appreciation with the therapeutic practice of journalling, offering a delightful way to unwind and express yourself.
You are taken through three light-hearted journalling practices which will give you insight into your own mind but will also bring great connection with those who choose to share their thoughts. We find that people do always choose to do this. It's hard to put into words how wonderful the feeling is when people you know, or don't know, suddenly articulate the exact worry or doubt you've been feeling. That is connection: connection on a deeper level that makes you feel relaxed and feel that you belong, all in the blink of an eye.
I was delighted when Carol from Ellis Gin suggested running these events together as I'm pretty partial to their gin and I love the ethos behind their brand. Have you heard of the Ellis Bee Hotel? No, ah, well, I'll leave that for another day but here's a little hint - Rum & Writing - like the sound of it?

People are lonelier than they've ever been and we want to do something to combat this. When we feel isolated, misunderstood, invisible, we experience anomie - a lack of belonging and disconnection from society or from colleagues. Journalling is a start in righting this and our Gin & Journalling events are a fabulous light hearted way to take that first step.
The effects are long lasting - the initial joyful experience develops into a deeper sense of belonging. Cheers!
